A Pattern

Description

There are days when I just feel the pulling, the struggle. The folding, the layering, the curving. The soaking, the coaxing, the smoothing. Some fibers split, some are whittled away, and gaping holes can be seen through it all.

There are days when I can catch a glimpse of a design--to learn of the prayers of my ancestors, praying for my love and happiness. When I can look back on something and realize that it happened for a reason.

But never can I even approach imagining...
...the great pattern.

The something so wholly perfect and lovingly crafted, painstakingly refined. My one hope is to become something useful to my Creator, something in which the light of His craftsmanship can be seen, something which makes the Artist smile and say,

"That turned out well, now, didn't it?"

Was looking at our caned-back chairs in our dining room set that my grandparents gave us from their lake house. My grandfather himself did the caning. :)

I was looking at them, thinking of the little spaces and lines in the design and how sometimes I feel just like that chair. And then this thought came to me.
