Frostwyte
The snow whipped around the northern wall, rustling dry corn stalks and roughly stirring what was left of the hardy autumn kale.  Powder drifted against the chinked stones and blew against yellow-lighted windows of thick, wavy glass.  The wind was howling viciously through the bare orchard trees, making their worn old branches creak and moan.  The onslaught of hoary flakes alternately fell as soft waves and drove in blasting fingers that flew sideways through the gooseberry bushes.
Only one sign of life could be seen outside in the bitter weather; a large female badger was scuffling along the way from the north gate.  Despite her wintry name, Frostwyte had next to no appreciation for the season.  In her mind, the snow and ice were mere hindrances that prevented a hardworking woodlander from being productive.  Herbs were few and far between in the cold months, and the infirmary had to rely on the stock that had been dried or ti

For the Sake of Art
It was well known—or at least, widely speculated—that his chief reason to become a part of the art world was so that he could view the most lurid films, the most depraved paintings, and the most obscene photographs all “for the sake of art.”  Furthermore, the man could find something objectionable in almost any scrap of media, no matter how innocuous it seemed to the average viewer.
This never went over well with his students, who felt his obsession with hidden debauchery in art signified a stunted sexual maturity, and felt his behavior might be more suited to a tittering middle school boy just discovering the intricacies of female anatomy.  His male students did not act embarrassed, even though they often were.  Their mode of dealing with the insinuations generally took the form of blank stares; paying too much attention to the slides shown or to one’s note-taking might imply a more-than-academic interest in the subjec

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 17, 2009, 5:25 PM

Is it just me, or are a lot of my recent journal entries sounding somewhat rantish?

I am SO sick of seeing pornography on the front page of DA.  Really.  Really.  Sick of it.  I know it's not DA's fault; it's programmed to throw up whatever's getting the most pageviews.  What bugs me is that THAT crap is what is getting the attention.  It usually winds up being one of these:

:bulletblue: closeup photo of female genitalia (photoshopped all to blazes, btw)
:bulletblue: photo or drawing of barely clothed female(s) in obviously seductive positions (the legs in the air with the be-pantied crotch peeking out is popular...)
:bulletblue: photos of simpering models in revealing lingerie
:bulletblue: wacky fetish drawings or photos of females (trend here, maybe?) with unbelievable proportions

And all of these "works of art" feature skinny (unless it's a fat fetish drawing), naked, ideal females with all their realistic points photoshopped out (or if it's a drawing, just left out entirely), in poses and environments that have absolutely nothing to do with reality.  And I don't have a problem with "fantasy," mind, I'm just thinking this: people spend all their time looking at and contemplating these ideal figures that, for all intents and purposes, do not exist.  And THEN they wonder why they can't keep their relationships from failing.  People don't know how to relate to reality anymore!

Guys on DA: guess what!?!  If you are lucky enough for a girl to accept a proposal of marriage from you, and you end up marrying, buying a house and having a family, you are in for a big surprise.  Life isn't about sex!  It's part of a healthy marriage, but it doesn't receive the most attention.  Which is why you shouldn't give it all your attention now!

Ugh.  I wish stuff like that just wasn't even allowed on DA...I mean, there's such a thing as art, but seriously: you know the artists or photographers are either totally getting off on these stupid things, or the model is just doing this to make herself feel better about herself.  Which is just cheap.

Oy...

Just dropped in to say hi! I am back on deviantArt!

I seem to remember that you read some Gravedigger at one point. (I'm still wondering if a Kesairl picture will turn up ;) !)

In any case, if Gravedigger rings bells in your memory, there's some news relating to it in my journal.

Thank you for the fav! You're most welcome to use the picture as your desktop. (I'm curious to know what you want it to remind you of - the truth about faith, or some water related happy memory??!) :)

It reminds me of several things, actually...it reminds me of the Holy Spirit, of having faith (as you mentioned in the description), of the overwhelming peace that comes with knowing God will always be there, even when the stepping stones are not.
